Apple has just rolled out the iOS 17.3 update for iPhone. This update brings new features such as Stolen Device Protection, an updated Lock Screen, and collaborative playlists. Additionally, it improves the overall user experience by addressing issues with AirPlay and Crash Detection. To install iOS 17.3, navigate to your iPhone’s Settings, select “Software Update,” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Reporting from Gizmochina (23/1), the iOS 17.3 update presents a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). This new security addition to the iPhone makes it harder for thieves to access sensitive user information, even if they get the passcode. Given the constant advancements in fraudsters’ tactics, this could prove to be an invaluable feature.
The iOS 17.3 update brings a new feature: collaborative playlists. Now, users can invite friends to join playlists, and everyone can add, reorder, and delete songs. For more details, see Apple’s update notes:
Stolen Device Protection
– Stolen Device Protection improves iPhone and Apple ID security by requiring Face ID or Touch ID without passcode change to perform certain actions.
– Security Delay requires Face ID or Touch ID, a one-hour wait time, and then additional successful biometric authentication before sensitive operations such as changing the device passcode or Apple ID password can be performed.
Lock Screen
– The new Unity wallpaper honors Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month.
Music
– Collaborate on playlists allows users to invite friends to join your playlist and everyone can add, rearrange and delete songs.
– Emoji reactions can be added to any track in a collaborative playlist.
This update also includes the following fixes:
– AirPlay hotel support allows users to stream content directly to in-room TVs at select hotels
– AppleCare & Warranty in Settings shows user coverage for all devices signed in with the user’s Apple ID
– Crash detection optimization (all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models)
Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices. To update iOS, navigate to “Settings,” tap “General,” and select “Software Update.” Follow the on-screen instructions to update. Keep the device connected to Wi-Fi and make sure there is enough battery or charger power during the process.
