RSMM child and adolescent psychiatrist specialist, Dr. Ira Safitri T, likened the mental disorders caused by these gadgets to an iceberg phenomenon. According to Ira, the number of patients increases every year.
“During 2019, we treated 10-15 patients (due to gadget addiction). There were 3 people who underwent inpatient treatment, but have now gone home. Until now, we have served between 2 to 3 people (patients due to gadget addiction) who are outpatient every day,” said Ira Safitri when met at RSMM, Jalan Semeru, West Bogor, Bogor City, Thursday (17/10/2019).

“For mental disorders here, most of those treated are schizophrenic mental disorders, but currently there is an increase in patients with internet, gadget or device addiction problems,” he added.
During 2019, there were 3 teenagers who were treated at RSMM because they were experiencing mental disorders due to gadget addiction. Their average age is between 11-16 years and comes from Bogor. Only a small part from outside Bogor such as Jakarta and Bekasi.
