Jakarta (ANTARA) – After announcing Chromecast support for Google Meet, Google has now revealed that its consumer video chat app, Duo, will be coming to Android TV in the form of a native app that will allow users to get started video calls from their television screens.

“In an effort to provide experience video calls “to more parts of your home, Google Duo is launching Beta on Android TV in the coming weeks,” said Group Product Manager, Google Meet hardware, TJ Varghese, in a post on Google’s official blog site, quoted Saturday.

“With Google Duo, you can start a call one-on-one or groups from your TV, and if your TV does not have a camera built-inyou just plug in a USB camera,” he continued.

The move continues Google’s push to bring its video communications apps to bigger screens. By adding Chromecast support to its Meet video conferencing service, Google is giving people more flexibility in where they can host work meetings.

Now, the presence of Google Duo on Android TV makes it possible to chat with a combination of a sofa and a television screen, more comfortably than using a PC or cellphone.

Like Meet, Google Duo is supported by Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max and smart display lthe other person is running it software Google. Platform expansion is also Google’s way of competing with Zoom and Microsoft Teams, according to The Verge.
